We don’t see a lot about Iceland on TV here, although BBC 4 did a good series last year featuring programmes from and about Iceland. So it was a pleasant surprise to actually see something new to me about Iceland from a little snippet on a show called Room 101.
The Stjarnan football team became internet sensations a couple of years ago for their goal celebrations. Their most famous one re-enacts one of them being caught like a fish and then held up for a trophy photo. I can’t explain it better than that – have a look below to see examples of their elaborate rituals after goal scoring. I’m no football fan but some of these celebrations are really good and would definitely be the highlight of the match for me!
