Frozen Gullfoss

A frozen Gullfoss was one of the things I most wanted to see on the December trip. Hearing its thunderous roar, I thought it had been a wasted effort and it wasn’t going to be frozen. Luckily some parts were frozen and it gave a completely different look to a familiar place.

P1000328With the setting sun it was so spectacular that several people nearly missed the bus back…so yes, it was worth spending 6 hours on a bus in December for a few minutes here.

  1. Hoping to visit Iceland next year March or October so seeing such amazing scenery would be fab.Are both those months good for seeing The Northern Lights do you think?

  2. I’ve been three times. The time I went in winter I was a bit disappointed to find the path closed, amazingly beautiful none the less. Thank God that stern looking woman whose statue is there stopped the developers from destroying it.

  3. These photos are gorgeous!! This is my favorite waterfall, just something so magical about it! I don’t think I’ ve ever seen it during winter in person, but next time I’m back home during that time of year I will!

ps. wanted you to know that I nominated you for the Versatile Blogger Award 🙂
