I love both cats and wool, so it’s probably not surprising that I bought this Christmas Cat from the Handknitting Association on my last trip. It actually kind of looks like one of my cats. It was a bit of an impulse buy (ok, I didn’t really NEED it…) but now that it’s Christmas and it’s out on display, I’m really glad I bought it.

If you’d like to read more about the legend of Iceland’s Christmas Cat and another ornament I bought that I didn’t really need, you can do so here in a previous post.

I’d really like to call this ornament by a name other than the Christmas Cat – any suggestions? I’m thinking it needs a grand Icelandic name!

    • It doesn’t like having its picture taken! I always thought the Christmas Cat was a girl for some reason but have since read about it where it was referred to as “he”. So I’m not sure any more. You should know more than me. 🙂

  1. I love buying Christmasy things when I’m travelling! Then I can remember the places I’ve been while decorating for Christmas.
For some reason, this cat looks particularly like a Þrándur to me.
