Emstrur to Þórsmörk
It was a relatively short day of walking, and varied again with bridges/rivers and finally, more greenery and trees than we had seen at any point. It all seemed so lush!
So, would I recommend this walk to people? Yes, but it’s not for everyone. You have to have a good level of fitness, not mind sleeping in either a tent or a hut no matter the weather, and be prepared to either have to do the walk in sun, rain or snow. Although you could do this walk on your own following the painted sticks that are in the ground, they are quite hard to see sometimes. There are options to do this with tour groups which I think would be more fun and you’d have no chance of getting lost. Also, note that the entire area is only accessible by 4×4 during June – August and you need to drive through rivers of varying depths to get there.
